May 29th

On Eurotunnel at the moment heading home after yet another great trip. Spent last night on the free aire at Wissant, afternoon stroll on the beach where Jonesy was allowed to run off the lead. The great weather continued and we had a final meal in the nearby restaurant. Wissant is fab.

"My father always promised us that we would live in France We'd go boating on The Seine and I would learn to Dance". Judy Collins (1968) LES ANDELYS ON THE SEINE. Yet another stunning part of France

May 27th

Disappointing result but congrats to Real. However the real story of the night was the site bar manager who had signs up advertising the match. I also spoke to him and he reassured me that he would stay open for the entire match....he locked the bar up at 7pm went home and never returned! We had to leg it to town, none of the first few bars had tv so I asked one barman where I would find a bar with a tv for the footy. He asked me who was with me and then said that he could get two more into his "special place". He took us down some steps to a cellar where I could hear music playing . I was half expecting to find John, Paul, George and Ringo in 60's leather gear but there on the wall in this tiny cellar was a tv and a handful of French guys. Good on the barman he kept coming back down to fill our glasses all through the match.

Saturday 26th May. Arrived at Saumur especially for champions league final. Two big tellys awaiting us on the campsite. Been a glorious day with temps in high 20's . Unfortunately around 6pm a real gusty storm blew up, Barb was at showers and awning began to take off. Managed to hold it down but couldn't wind it in. Kept tight hold of it for 15 minutes until she came back. Could have caused a few thousand pounds of damage if it had blown over top of motorhome. Getting ready for the big storm...."off t'match , up for cup"

May 26th

Spent Friday night (25th May) on the campsite at Condac (Le Rejallant) south of Poitiers. A good site that only cost 13e. Me and Jonesy got up early and had a walk by the river that was about 200 metres away.

May 25th

Stopped at Biscarrosse in SW France for one night. Lovely day on lake with Jonesy. He won't go out of his depth but gets frustrated at wanting to step out to swim but still not sure. So I took him about 5 feet out of his depth, he swam back to the bank grabbed my shoes and dropped them in the water. " That'll teach you to mess with me". Got back to site (Camping Bimbo) and had a nice cooling swim in the pool. Friday morning visited vets to have his passport documentation done and then went down to the beach for a walk. packed up and moved on. Hoping to get to Saumur for match. "Up for cup".

May 25th

Zarautz.

May 25th

Camping Zarautz. Spent Tuesday 22nd and wed.23 on camping Zarautz, a great favourite of ours. The site is positioned on the cliffs overlooking this lively resort, a beautiful clean beach is below the path and the 450 steps that take you straight onto the beach. Lots of dogs playing in the water so Jonesy joined in. Again the weather was ideal and we really enjoyed out two days here. Spotted this little fellow on the walk to the beach

May 23rd

Spent Monday 21st on a good site close to Mendigorria in the Navarro region of Spain. A small village with a beautiful church. Walked up the steep hill but unfortunately the church was closed. Tuesday we drove around Pamplona and headed for one of our favourites Zarautz.

May 22nd

Stopped off at a lovely little place called Navajas just north of Valencia. Beautiful walk through national park land, waterfalls high cliffs following a crystal clear river.

May 20th

After 10 days and nights of hardly being apart they're still laughing together.

May 18th

Me and Owen heading into the sea, note how quickly the beach was evacuated as they saw us coming

May 18th

Great tapas restaurant served by our very own Roberto Firmino from Columbia. Excellent food, its now been about 2 weeks since we cooked something at the motorhome.

May 18th

Poor portrait photo but you can see the beach

May 16th

Having a great time with Alex and Owen, out late every night dining and wine ing at some lovely restaurants. Loads of laughter and stories that have evolved over time. Did the old town yesterday and the Arenal beach area last night. The great weather continues.

May 12th

Been in our favorite resort in Spain Jjavea since Monday, Weather great 24c everyday. Awaiting the arrival of our friends Owen Carroll and Alex Wiseman. Met up with old familiar faces on Camping Javea where the pool. area has been upgraded.

May 8th

Sunday, last day in Albir then off to Javea on Monday. We took a walk up to the famous Altea church The Virgin of The Consul. Some lovely views from up there where there seemed to be a first communion event with all of the girls in pretty white dresses and boys in sailor suits apart from one 'promising' young lad who stood out from all of the others as he was in an Naval Officers suit. So surprised at the variety of restaurants here...Thai, Chinese, Argentinian, Peruvian...the list is endless.

May 6th

Benidorm maybe I was a little unkind to you...You truly art a wondrous place as I saw more "cripples' get out of their 'wheel chair's and walk than in Lourdes. God bless you Benidorm

May 5th

The exercise day continues, just cycled over to Benidorm. Not sure why we went. Probably to conduct an anthropological study into the football shirted tribes of England. It was heaving. Usual stag and hen night gangs in various stages of drunkenness. All good humored and everybody having a good time but just not our cup of tea. Back home to our crumpets and Ovaltine.

May 5th

Still in Albir...really enjoying the place. Done a couple of nights at a Thai restaurant and last night did a Sea Food buffet at a nearby hotel. Biked about 10 miles to north but then Barbs seat post broke, managed to get it replaced so thinking of biking over to Benidorm today, not because we might like it there...but for the hell of it. Just done 6 mile walk to the lighthouse (see photo). Probably move to Xabia (Javia) on Monday

May 2nd

Eleven mile journey to Albir. So glad we came here and thanks for the recommendation Ken Dixon. A really nice place. Did the full prom walk, we only plan to stay one night to watch the big Roma second leg but expect that will change now that we've seen how nice it is. Off T'match, Up for Cup.

May 2nd

Sad news, now that the camping and caravan club rally has ended...

May 1st

We returned to Villajoyosa on sunday. The site Imperivm is so good that we had to return. We don't really watch that much tv while away but the reception guy gave us a tv cable to plug in to our own receiver that's on every pitch. Got most of the uk main stations. Its a long bank holiday for the Spanish. They have the may day BH on Tuesday so the attitude is why go in on the Monday so they have that off as well. So the town is a little busy but interesting. Starting to see more people in the sea swimming so it must be warming up, still a bit breezy. Next stop probably Altea/ Albir tomorrow for one night to watch match then Javea.

.
Sunday 29th April. Left Balerma, a really good site that has only been built in last few years. Would recommend site but Balerma is not really a tourist destination although there are some signs that is developing that way. Good views of the Sierra Nevada snow capped mountains in the distance. It got really windy the night before we left.

april 28th 2018

On a really good well organised campsite in Balerma Spain. On comes a French couple and park there motorhome directly looking onto ours about 25 yards away. Out comes an enormous Doberman on a rope. We go to take Jonesy for a walk and it lunges at him but the rope keeps him away. Its absolutely ferocious and the owner tries to control it but it turns on him. We take a detour and decide to avoid it. Next morning we are awoken by screams and barking. The Doberman that's now on ...a much longer length of rope has managed to get a little white dog as its walking past, its got a grip of it in its mouth but somehow the dog escapes. The owner again tries to control it but it attacks him and bites his arm. Dog and owner go in the motorhome and then come back out. His arm is bandaged up and the dogs nose and mouth is cellotaped up. Another detour to get Jonesy past it. As we walk I wonder what to do, will probably report them to reception but when we return they have left. Just wondering if someone else reported it.
