Another hot day.

Tuesday saw temps get close to 30c so Tim decided to take the kids out of sc at lunchtime so we could go to the outdoor pool nearby. Lovely afternoon in warm sunshine. Later back at Tim's the kids decided to launch a waterfight at grandad, only one winner kids.

Weekend 18th19th February. Spent at Sumner.

We took a 2 nights rental in Redcliffs and spent some time in Sumner, Christchurchs seaside resort. Its a nice place with loads of nice bars and restaurants. First night we ate at Miss Peppercorn a great Chinese and then at the pub on the beach for the second night. Sunday morning we met up with Tim and the family for a day on the beach. Later went back to Allison's house for a cup of tea and a natter. Evening meal at the Richmond working man's club, becoming regulars, must get a job.

New Zealand

We left UK weds 8th February flying Emirates to Dubai, first stop. Overnight stop in nearby Ibis Hotel B&B for £42.used the metro train 2 stops to hotel for 12 dirhams for 2 of us. Next day we flew to Brisbane and booked another day stay room at nearby Ibis. Used the airport shuttle from internationals to domestic to get to hotel. That evening flew to Christchurch arriving just after midnight. Tim booked and paid for the taxi as we weren't sure Revolut card would be acceptable in NZ. IT IS. We gave driver a tip and paid with Revolut. Revolut widely accepted. Overall trip wasn't easy, we had no delays but both of us felt unwell with flu. Accommodation is great and we soon established a great friendship with kids. First Sunday went to Hagley Park for an outdoor play about the history of NZ cricket. Joined the local working man's club for subsidised food and drink, cycled to New Brighton and presently having 2 nights in an Airbnb down in Redcliffs and Sumner area.
