Last night in France.

Returned to Les Andelys on the Seine river. Hoping to have a last beer in the bar in the town but everywhere was shut. Really like this site although there aren't any hardstanding. After 10 years of using eurotunnel we're sailing via Irish Ferries, a saving of about £120 on a single trip.

Bourges

If you haven't visited this city then do so soon. Our second visit here and we took note of all of the refurbishment the city is undertaking in preparation for 2028 when it becomes European city of culture. There are some magnificent buildings here and the main one the cathedral is getting a clean up. We also noticed that the buses are free although it's only a 20 minute walk from the cities campsite.

Tuesday 24th October. Overnight I Millau

2 rivers site, close to the town. Had a bit of a problem with the gate but got on to site. Walk into town for a good beer in the autumn sunshine.

Return to a busy Roses.

Don't know if it was half term but it was really busy in Roses. Didn't seem that long since we were with the Dolphins back in May. We stayed for two nights the Sunday and Monday. Weather in mid 20.s. On Monday I swam in a really warm but rough sea. Then later we swam on the site pool at camping rodas and the sunbathed on the nice beds. Yes we returned to the hotel Montecarlo on the Sunday for the 23e buffet with a bottle of wine. Monday night we ate at the site restaurant. Vets charged 20e for pet passport.

We couldn't eat it all.

Took a ride to playa de la Concha at the farend of Oropesa as this is the nicest part. Much of Oropesa is modern with loads of newish apartments and hotels, maybe a failed attempt to emulate Benidorm. Doesn't work for us as it all shuts down out of season. Playa de la concha has places open and a nice beach. Had coffees and then a swim. Starting to cool down now. Went back and watched Everton game, 2.0 to reds. Site restaurant was quiet and there was no way we could finish the set menu. Decent attempt though. Off tomorrow to Roses.

Oropesa. Bravoplaya.

Great weather continues and we continue to enjoy our stay here. Nice routine of bikimg it along the prom and having a few coffees and then a nice swim. We don't leave the site at night as the evening menu at the site restaurant is amazing at 3 courses for 16 euros. Even the starter would be enough for most people.

Bravoplaya Camping Resort.

Another enjoyable stay at Camping Javea. It was starting to get really busy and for several days they had the FULL sign up and were turning people away. We needed to make tracks and head off in the direction of home. Obvious decision was to go to Bravoplaya near Oropesa de Mar. Been there about 5 times before and love the site. It's one of those things I keep repeating... If the Germans invade a place then it's well worth a visit but try telling that to the inhabitants of 1930s Poland. Anyway most of these Germans are lovely, they have the most luxurious of motor homes, bring everything but the kitchen sink and tend to stay for the winter. We arrived and had a minor crisis as the reception lady struggled to find us a pitch. She said the only ones available were 10 metres long and 6.5 metres wide!?!. Accepted that as its huge compared to what we normally get. Here's a picture of the pitch.

Back to Javea

Returned to Javea with our mate Owen. Weather continues to be hot, sunny and cloudless. OK doing the same old things in the same old places, but what a location to be repeating ourselves.

Torre de La Morra

Another return to this favourite site just north of Tarragona. Right on beach massive pool. We were joined by our old mate Owen who paid 40e a night for a tent come chalet. We spent an enjoyable 4 nights here before moving on to another favourite Javea.

Llafranc, Callela de Pallafrugel, and Kim's camping, again, again and always will.

Back here again because it's just so beautiful. Bumped into Brian and Christine on Kim's. Swimming down at both towns and we returned to 3 Pins restaurant overlooking Callela.nice drink and Tapas. The ladies from Guatemala and Norway ran into us again. One had a welshie and we chatted for an hour. Only here for 4 nights but cramming loads in. For the record Kim's 20 euros a night.

Sant Antoni de Colonge.

This place really ticks all of our boxes. Great site that has everything. Large swimming area with water slides, a gym separate shaded doggy area etc. You walk out the site and your in town with a beautiful prominade lined with good bars and restaurants. Unfortunately the site closed on 17th September so we could only get 3 nights in but loved every minute of it. We will definitely be back y

L'Amfora beach

L'Amfora camping

Had a week on here now and leave tomorrow. Great site with everything on it. Would be a good site tobr kids. Could have done with a b more shade on our pitch as its been quite hot. The other thing it lacks is a nearby prom to walk along to have a drink at but great pool area and beach that allows dogs. Will return.

Camping Soleil, Argelès-sur-Mer

One more night left in Argeles sur Mer.

Tonight will be our 8th and then we travel just over an hour to the Bay of Roses in Spain. It then becomes a different holiday where we eat out more. Probably head to sant pere pescador. Here's a video I made for grandkids.

Someone's just shit on my little bit of paradise.

Really settled in to camping Soleil in Argeles sur Mer. Right next to beautiful beach, had a delightful swim in the massive swimming pool.Got our brand new Isabella awning up, just the part Everything hunky dory but then plop. It looks like Big Bird from Sessame street has just done a dump on us after eating a load of plums. I cleared yesterday's delivery but today even more.

Camping Car Parks

We headed to Nevers with the books promising a lovely site on the Loire, a short walk into a medieval city and good views. The site was virtually full with long leads needed for the few hookups available. Short drive to the Camping Car Parks aire at St Pierre Le Moutier. 14 euros a night with electric, toilets and showers. Basically an old village campsite taken over by this chain and fully automated. Great value... Could that price be beaten? Well yes as our next stop in Millau was camping plage. 13 euros with the full works, bar riverside views, short walk into town, restaurant, swimming pool etc. Walked into town fabulous beer at our favourite bar. At 5.70 euros a pint the difference between uk and French prices seems to be diminishing.

Set off the blocks Saturday 26th August

Headed for the Flying Horse at Boughton Lees, 20 minutes drive to the tunnel. Great free overnight stop. The pub looks over a nice village green come cricket pitch. Large car park but also a well tended paddock at the back for motorhomes. All together there were about 6 parked up. Nice meal and beers, good kip and next morning away for 6.20am train. On time, hooray. Pleasant drive to Les Andeleys south of Rouen. Been to this site 3 times now and it just gets better. The views of The Seine are well worth the visit and so is the town, where we walked along the riverside nosing at the antique / car boot sale. Then into the town square for a beer. Tasty Pelforths. Great overnight stop.

Returned home Friday 26th May.

We stopped one night in Millau weather still decent so enjoyed a couple of pints at a bar in the city. Also another night at camping Sologne at salbris south of Orleans before having another night at Neufchatel en bray.

11 nights in Roses

We've always liked and enjoyed Roses but when we returned to meet up with the rest of the'cackling dolphins' ...Dave, Carol, Owen and Alex, we couldn't help but notice how the area had gone through a bit of an refurbishment and upgrade. There were new building that were quite stylish and some of the more tired buildings had been smartened up considerably. New bars and restaurants had popped up and although the weather wasn't great we had a really good time. First 3 days were sunny but very windy then it went cold with the odd shower for the next 4 days. However when Alex, Carol and Dave departed and we were left with Owen the wind dropped and the sun came out with temps hitting 26c. We went on the Tractor train along the coast and through some of the mountains with Owen and Alex getting quite distressed when the 'train' pulled along narrow cliff edges and looked down on the emerald sea. A great trip. Then on one of the days we went on a boat trip to Cadaques. Again a trip to the bars and restaurants took precedent over a wander around this beautiful seaside village. In Roses itself we found the best of the bars and restaurants at night and although i dragged the boys off to Figueras to see the Dali museaum it was dissapointing to discover that it was full and we wouldn't be able to get in. As stated the 3 days with Owen gave us good weather and we managed to swim in the cold sea on each of these days. The visit to the Hotel Montecarlo buffet on one of the nights was a great success and good value at 21e a head with a bottle of wine thrown in.
