Just outside Calais, boat morning.

On Chateau du Gandspette outside Calais. 6 hour drive from Gien. Traffic busy but first site we went to were shut for lunch. Didnt fancy 2 hr wait in sun ,decided to get closer to Calais for earlier ferry. Site nice, pool small. Only problem is dog on next pitch in season so Jonesy won't settle. Taking him to the bar to drown his sorrows. Spotted a croquet match but professionals like myself not allowed. Off to Tim's in Reading tomorrow for Grandkids questioning and interrogation.

Just testing the 50 cent glasses and surprisingly they work great.

Camping Les Bois Du Bardelet, near Gien.

Another 3 hours closer to home and another scorcher. Again in close season we arrived to find reception closing at 12 noon and again we had 15 minutes to spare . Wow I just wouldn't want to wait 2 hours on the wrong side of the barrier so got to our pitch and settled in. 3 small pools spread about the site but they are small. Looking to swim in the small lake when it cools down. Restaurant looks inviting.

Return to Vichy.

Left Millau and stopped at Saint Chely D' Apcher. Parked in town camping aire, walked 200 metres to the vets walked in with no appointment. All pre sailing checks and worming done, 44 euros. Out in 10.minutes. Even had time to call in at the charity shop, bought 4 nice beer glasses for 0.50c each. Result. Stopped at Leclerc in Vichy, filled up with fuel. Popped in to examine the wine whilst Barbara did her customary song and dance.... "haven't you got enough wine". I gave my customary answer in French, which she'll never understand. Off to Beau Rivage camping..Great site (but I've already told you that if you were listening.) Jonesy had his holiday tummy so stayed in the van while we went to a lovely riverside restaurant.

Loved Argeles, more than ever but had to head home.

A great stay. Arrived at Millau before 12 at Camping Les Rivages. Took a pitch by the river as it was 32c. Nice site not used before.sat around waiting for it to cool ,took Jonesy for a paddle and later swam in the pool, 28c pool temp too warm ,should have joined Jonesy in the river with our Herbert!! Cycled into Millau to our favourite bar, closed so went over the road. Our search to draw cash out without charges finally over no charge in Millau. Euros now available for next trip. Tried telling Barbara we don't need cash!

Easy like Sunday morning.

Cycled down to Le Racou again. Yes another hot one. Passed the artists working away. What a fab idea ,Permanent boards acting as easels. Just turn up with your paints and create a work of art. Great if that could be replicated for the kids of the North West. Got to beach and heard a jzzz band rehearsing good sax player.

Really enjoying Argeles sur Mer.

Nice to step out of your motorhome every morning and feel the warm sunshine in a nice quiet location. Also nice to feel it in the evening. Today Friday we took a nice leisurely paced cycle along the front down to the far end of Argeles, past the port to Le Racou beach. We first came here 37 years ago when Tim was 3. We camped in a tent at a nearby site and visited the beach most days.

Le Soleil.

i go on quite q bit about how good this site is but the heated swimming pool is just one of the best. Only downside is the chairs and no sun beds.

Argeles Sur Mer, France.

Last day in Spain.

Much better day today, weather picking up and set to be around 23c for about 10 days. Walked down to far end of beach for only my second sea swim of the holidays. Later to the pool on the campsite. Such a pity we didnt have better weather because we really like Sant Antoni although it's been really quiet with very few bars and restaurants open.

Nice morning but afternoon dismal with thunderstorms.

Lovely sunny morning s
o we walked our new Olympian welsh terrier to the front ,heading south towards Playa d'aro. Had a coffee at the very end of the prom then strode over the headland where we took in the view of Playa d'aro. Afternoon was a washout with thunderstorms. This trip has been fraught with indifferent, cool cloudy weather. That's being generous.

Just arrived at Sant Antoni de Calonge.

Sant Antoni de Calonge is basically an extension of Palamos but has its own character and vibe. Eurocamping is a great site with large pitches and pool area. We've been here before and this time we chose a premium pitch with 10 amps electric, water and drainage all for 32 euros. On arrival town quiet and weather improving.

Blanes yet again.

Having stayed at Solmar several times we decided to try Bella Terra (27 euros a night on ACSI). This is a better site with direct access to the beach and a much better pool area. pitches are larger and generally the area is more spacious with easier access to pitches. plenty of sunny pitches and plenty of shaded pitches. At this time I'd say occupancy is around 40%. Blanes has some similarities with Roses campsites at far end of a long attractive promenade. About a half hour walk to the main town area where you'll find an excellent selection of bars, cafés and restaurants, all overlooking the sea. Excellent cycle paths take you to town in 5-10 minutes. Close to Bella Terra there are numerous other campsites and a good choice of bars, restaurants and supermarkets. We found the onsite restaurant at Bella Terra very good. Blanes has a lot to offer and I would recommend it. Since arriving in Spain the weather hasnt been what we'd expect. We've had a few cool days, one or two sunny days but generally the dominant detail is that of cloud. This has kept temperatures down to around 18 -19. Looking around this seems to be the case for much of Spain.

Not what we've come to expect.

Been in Blanes for nearly a week now and weather has been really disappointing. Loads of cloud ,some short periods of sun but generally quite cool. we had one day of glorious sunshine ,I went in the sea and later in the afternoon spent some time around the pool where it got really hot. Weather for next 3 days the same ,thick cloud ,low temperatures and chance of rain. on the positive, this is a great site.
