Really enjoying Argeles sur Mer.
Nice to step out of your motorhome every morning and feel the warm sunshine in a nice quiet location. Also nice to feel it in the evening. Today Friday we took a nice leisurely paced cycle along the front down to the far end of Argeles, past the port to Le Racou beach. We first came here 37 years ago when Tim was 3. We camped in a tent at a nearby site and visited the beach most days.
Le Soleil.
i go on quite q bit about how good this site is but the heated swimming pool is just one of the best. Only downside is the chairs and no sun beds.

Last day in Spain.
Much better day today, weather picking up and set to be around 23c for about 10 days. Walked down to far end of beach for only my second sea swim of the holidays. Later to the pool on the campsite. Such a pity we didnt have better weather because we really like Sant Antoni although it's been really quiet with very few bars and restaurants open.

Nice morning but afternoon dismal with thunderstorms.
Lovely sunny morning so we walked our new Olympian welsh terrier to the front ,heading south towards Playa d'aro. Had a coffee at the very end of the prom then strode over the headland where we took in the view of Playa d'aro. Afternoon was a washout with thunderstorms. This trip has been fraught with indifferent, cool cloudy weather. That's being generous.

Just arrived at Sant Antoni de Calonge.
Sant Antoni de Calonge is basically an extension of Palamos but has its own character and vibe. Eurocamping is a great site with large pitches and pool area. We've been here before and this time we chose a premium pitch with 10 amps electric, water and drainage all for 32 euros. On arrival town quiet and weather improving.
Blanes yet again.
Having stayed at Solmar several times we decided to try Bella Terra (27 euros a night on ACSI). This is a better site with direct access to the beach and a much better pool area. pitches are larger and generally the area is more spacious with easier access to pitches. plenty of sunny pitches and plenty of shaded pitches. At this time I'd say occupancy is around 40%.
Blanes has some similarities with Roses campsites at far end of a long attractive promenade. About a half hour walk to the main town area where you'll find an excellent selection of bars, cafés and restaurants, all overlooking the sea. Excellent cycle paths take you to town in 5-10 minutes. Close to Bella Terra there are numerous other campsites and a good choice of bars, restaurants and supermarkets. We found the onsite restaurant at Bella Terra very good.
Blanes has a lot to offer and I would recommend it.
Since arriving in Spain the weather hasnt been what we'd expect. We've had a few cool days, one or two sunny days but generally the dominant detail is that of cloud. This has kept temperatures down to around 18 -19. Looking around this seems to be the case for much of Spain.

Not what we've come to expect.
Been in Blanes for nearly a week now and weather has been really disappointing. Loads of cloud ,some short periods of sun but generally quite cool. we had one day of glorious sunshine ,I went in the sea and later in the afternoon spent some time around the pool where it got really hot. Weather for next 3 days the same ,thick cloud ,low temperatures and chance of rain. on the positive, this is a great site.

Tossa de mar
We have always fancied giving Tossa de Mar a visit but the only site in that area is Camping Cala llevado, about 2-3 miles outside Tossa. It's a very hilly site , has great facilities and was nice and quiet until hundreds of school kids arrived on a school trip. Lots of screaming and shouting. We could have avoided this if we'd moved further into the site but as we were close to most facilities we decided to stay put. The site gives access to several beautiful bays ,easy to walk down to , difficult to return from.
The other issue for us was how to get to see Tossa. Yes it's another hilly route if you're walking or cycling. Ten years ago it would have been no sweat, but now? As it was fate made our decision easier. The seal around the bedroom skylight was failing allowing water into the bedroom. Next morning we turned up at a camper hire/ repair workshop in lloret. "No problem, come back 4pm and we'll fix it".
Off we go to Tossa, parking 9 euros next to Esclat supermarket. Lovely lunch and coffees and a full day visiting all that Tossa has to offer. Back to workshop. Bang on 4pm Pablo gets stuck in while we grab a walk and coffee. Two hours later after removing skylight and resealing it ,job done 105 euros, very happy. Would recommend. Pablo advised us that these seals often fail and should be checked.

Lovely relaxing morning on Roses beachfront.
Walked, sat for an hour with Jonesy relaxing on my lap. What a great recovery he's made. Now for coffee.
FRIDAY 1ST May....Roses.
Enjoyed Le Barcares, weather suggested cloud in Roses but we arrived to bright sunshine.
Woke Saturday to lovely sunshine so weatherman tells fibs. Been coming to Roses for 37 years when we drove here with Tim as a 3 year old. It was starting to look a bit shabby about 15 years ago but in recent years, presumably to maintain the interest of French holiday makers it's gone through a bit of a resurrection. For that reason every time we visit Spain we drop in here.
Now the May day holiday so quite busy. Will stay 3 days and try Tossa de Mar for a change.
Wednesday 29th Le Barcarres
Decided to have a couple of days at Le Floride and review the weather in spain. We've visited this sight several times and tended to pay the extra 5 euros on top of the ACSI rate for own sink, toilet and shower, but now they've made it an extra 20 euros we gave it a miss and parked close to the toilet block.Very quiet on our side of the site but other side busy with kids on holiday. Strange set up for easter holidays in this region. We like the heated pools on the site, the walks into town and the closeness of Lidl . However we did take not that this is a fabulous site for young families with loads of free activities. One pic ...the new free playground in the town.
