We left Ribamar after saying goodbye to the people we’d met. It was only a 60 mile journey to L’Ametila de Mar and Camping Nautic. This was a good terraced site right next to the town so a 100 metre walk led you right into town. We couldn’t and still can’t make our minds up about L’Ametila, it seemed to be more of a working town than a resort. It had a large fishing fleet moored in the harbour and a high speed railway line going right through it with a large station. When we arrived there was a drink and food festival on and hundreds of people were walking around with wine glasses dangling from their necks on the end of plastic necklace’s. We couldn’t work out how to join in on this so just sat enviously watching them down loads of wine ‘samples’ whilst listening to the brass band play.
There were one or two small beaches in the town and the campsite had its own although this seemed plagued by debris washed up on the shoreline. A Welsh woman we got talking to told us this was unusual as the beach is usually nice and clean.
The swimming pool was excellent and as the temperature was now going over 30c we took the opportunity to cool off and do our 20 lengths.
