7th, 8th May. Kim's Camping Llafranc.

People of a certain age will remember it well . It happened in the mid 60's when our parents left us with aunties, grans or older siblings so that they could trailblaze and seek out new horizons. They ignored the risks and dangers as they were packed into propeller powered Vickers Viscounts, destination Costa Brava. Bravely they ate the chicken, drank the massive measures of spirits laced with bacteria ridden ice. There drunkenness always had to be controlled for this was the land ruled by the dictator General Franco.
Fortunately they all returned and were accounted for at airports that resembled bus sheds. Unlike the Spanish Conquistadors of earlier fame, they ignored riches such as gold, they returned with more valuable lootings....large stuffed donkeys (that today would require a seat ticket of there own), sangria jugs, castanets. maraccas and cheap plastic fans. They spoke of beautiful coves and fishing villages where the sea was deep turquoise.
But sadly the British lager louts and the German towels on sunbeds brigades took over many of these resorts and eventually the high rise developers took over. Many resorts became more British than Blackpool.
However places like Llafranc, Palafrugell de Calella and Tamariu have all preserved the original Costa Brava beauty. I would go so far as to say that this stretch of coastline between these 3 villages is probably the most beautiful in Spain.
