31st october

We left Italy with a heavy heart. Its been good to us on this trip showing us its beautiful landscapes, amazing medieval cities and fabulous beach resorts in its southern boot. The highlights were Matera. Peschici, otranto and finally Tropea with its torquiose sea and ivory beaches. One thing we did note on our travels throughout Italy is the presence of a North South divide. This is far more severe than our own UK one but is a total reverse with Italys south being the poorer. The south is affected in the following ways. Public services. Rubbish is often pilled up at the side of the road, you rarely see a bin waggon. The roads are atrocious and poorly maintained. People wear practical clothing. In the North at times when you're sat at a bar it felt like you were observing a cat walk. The south has its fair share of old and battered fiat's. In the North you will see a fair amount of ferraris, lamborghinis and porches. But if you asked me where would I prefer to holiday I'd gladly say the southe
