Camping Vill. Baia degli Aranci
We stayed at the above site in Vieste and surprisingly there were 2 other UK
motterhomes on an otherwise deserted site. We enjoyed a good meal with Stewart
and Julia from Glasgow, two very interesting nusic teachers. The following
morning I persuaded Stewart to play his £12000 guitar and he played a beautiful
moving catalonian folk tune. Such a talented couple, a brief meeting as they
had to move on.
6th & 7th October. Two nights in Vieste.
When we arrived in Vieste we were so glad we'd had some time in Peschici as Vieste did not quite match up to our expectations. Most of the acsi sites were on the West Side of towm. After cycling to the Eastern side we discovered the this was much nicer. With a great view of the town and a lovely beach if we ever returned here that's were we would head to. The town itself is quite nice in parts but you have to wander the old sections to appreciate it. Some great restaurants. When we cycled the Eastern beach there were lots of sostas and campsites still open. Our site is good with a swimming pool and free washing machines. All 5 were being used at 8am in the morning and were constantly in use throughout the day as people took advantage of them being free. However we have decided to move on tomorrow.

Sunday 2nd October 2022
After leaving Termoli we were intending to travel to Vieste but I noticed the town of Peschici on the same peninsula , north of Bari. There seemed to be several campsites and sosta’s open in Peschici so we headed there. Boy were we so glad we chose to come here, it was exactly the kind of place we like. Basic campsite on the beach with 6amp electric, clean facilities and a popular restaurant. For a hot shower you paid 1 euro for 4 tokens and the lady on reception didn’t mess about “19 euros a night if you pay me cash; an extra 1.60 each per night tourist tax if you pay by card”. We picked our spot ,settled in and then went for a swim on the beach. Fabulous empty beach with great views of the old town.
The next day Sunday 2nd of September, Barbara informed me that she’d heard fireworks in the night. Then at 8am the sound of a cannon gun could be heard going off 6 times. Some sort of festival? Up and out early and into the old town. Again fabulous views as we climbed the hairpin bends into the town. We drew some euros out from the bank atm, no charges and then heard the sound of a brass band playing. We were like snakes taken in by the charmers music. We sat and listened until the band headed off and marched to the nearby church where people in varying robes discharged themselves from the church before congregating on mass outside. Whatever they were doing we left them to it and continued to wind through the medieval section of the town until we arrived on the beautiful beach and made our way to the campsite.

Saturday 1st October.
Termoli wasn't on our list of places to stay but we were so glad that we paid it a visit. We stayed overnight in the port/marina Sosta. With electric the cost was 30 euros worth it for the security, excellent toilets/showers and close proximity to the town. The town was attractive and quiet in the afternoon when we arrived. However when we went out for our evening meal it started to buzz. Great bars and restaurants.

After dropping Owen off at Rimini airport we drove to Numana, south of Ancona, staying at the Numana Blu camping resort. A fabulous site with every facility going. The large pool was heated and great for swimming in. The coastline was beautiful and it was good that we had the bike's as the nearest town was about a 30 minute walk, with Numana a little further. It was unfortunate that the weather was dull and overcast for the 3days we spent here but we still managed to get out and about.
