When you step off the ferry and arrive in Manly you are met by a sign that reads...'Manly...imerse yourself" and that's what you have to do here. Its a bit like arriving at a 60's party when you're the only one sober. Once you've had a few drinks and let yourself go it can be a good place. Its not plush or sophisticated but it is energetic. It can also be cheap if you look around. The Steyne hotel where we drink offered a tasty pie, chips and salad with a pint of beer for the equivalent of £9. We walked into the bowls club the other day where we were met by the bowls coach who offered to give me a bowls lesson, she invited us to fridays 2 for the price of one steak dinner which we tried last night. A juicy thick steak with chips and salad for what equated to £3.33p each!!
I enjoyed the bowls lesson this morning and gave the coach a bit of a scare.
Yesterday we enjoyed a day on Bondi beach I enjoyed the swimming here and its a place you have to go to when visiting Sydney but to be honest it wouldn't rate in my top 10 beaches. So what of Sydney? Sydney is primarily a working city. Its also a very noisy city where men in suits dash about with headphones on to block out the sounds of the traffic whilst the unfortunate homeless 'schizophrenics' prefer the sounds of the traffic to the voices in their heads. On the outskirts of the city are the main attractions like Bondi, Darling harbour and the bridge and opera house. All of the main places have now been visited so its doubtful we'd ever return to Sydney.
