After leaving Javea one of our objectives was to try to find some different sites from the ones we generally use. Tauro was a very good discovery but for some unknown reason we can never get excited about Benicassim. We did find it a bit more appealing than than on  a previous visit but we wanted to try Oropesa. The 3 acsi sites in Oropesa were studied in detail and we finally opted for Camping Torre la Sal 2 (also the most expensive at 19e)
We got settled on the site and gave it a good examination. First impressions ...a fabulous site. It has everything, 3 swimming pools , dog showers with hairdryers, a hairdressers etc etc
The pitches are massive in some sections and I've never seen so many large expensive motorhomes on a site. Its 95% occupied by Germans, testimony to its high standards I've always been impressed with Germans, they make great machinery, know where the best places are and build things to last. An opinion that probably stems from my memories of my dad who 'acquired' a piece of German shrapnel in his back that lasted a lifetime. Vorsprung Durch Technik.
On this site you are encouraged to leave your rubbish outside your motorhome where it is collected daily and as we arrived we saw this process in action as someone had left a bucket to be taken away . Great for our waste water so we took it.
When returning to our pitch after taking Jonesy on the beach (big plus dogs allowed) the elderly German woman opposite pointed to something and did a rolling out movement. Didn't know what she was on about until I spotted that someone had thrown a small groundsheet out. The impudence of the woman, does she think that Brexit will turn us all into Mexican refuse tip scavengers?
The groundsheet now lays beautifully at our motorhome entrance
CAN'T EMPHASIZE IT ENOUGH THIS IS A CLASS SITE.

Tuesday 25 April 2017

Well only two more nights left in Javea before we move on. Yesterday we walked the old town and took some pics. Last night we returned to the Hotel Javea for a meal with our exiled scouse neighbours Aigburth and Litherland. Such a good night as we all exchanged amusing stories, complicated family histories and the sexploits of known associates that would shock even the most hardened of Sun readers. Thanks again Joe and Jan for inviting us , a really good night.
Returning home we had the pleasure of Jan's 'short cut' a long winding route that added an additional 10 minutes to the walk. Was this a set up? Did they have a Bill Sykes like accomplice waiting in the bushes? No seriously it was a lovely entertaining walk home and the latest we've been out.

Saturday 22 April 2017

On the recommendation of The two fellow scousers on the next pitch ...Joe (Aigbugh) and Jan (Litherland), we went for a meal at the Javea Hotel We got a table by the window and at 5 floors up we had a fantastic view of The town. It was also a gorgeous meal described by Barbara as the meal of The holiday.

Thursday 20 April 2017

Had 2 glorious weeks in Javea, 1 more week left.

After temps of around 25c every day since arriving, its gone a bit cooler the last two days, temps around 18c so we took a walk in the hills to the old windmills.

6th April arrived Camping Javea.

Had treatment for "somewhere different" syndrome and made another welcome return to Javea. All of the winter trippers, many of whom have been here since October are now returning to the UK, Holland and Germany so the site looks rather empty in parts. Easter came and went with quite a few Spaniards making legal claims on their territories and ensuring the occupation with large numbers

One night in Moncofa

After Caspe we headed to Moncofa...the dreaded "somewhere different" syndrome . Disappointing first because we couldn't get on camping Mon Mar...they didn't allow dogs. So we made do with Los Naranjos, not a bad site but long walk to an uninteresting town, note the absence of photies. Also to add to this is to take note that Caspe was out of our way and we had a long but picturesque drive over mountains where the temperatures dropped to 4c .

One night back at lake Caspe

The pitch at camping Zarautz

2nd April two superb nights at Zarautz.

Been to Zarautz before but only for the day but on both occasions we were impressed so since the weather was holding out decided to stay a couple of nights. We could easily stay a few weeks. Jonesy enjoyed running on the beach. Loved the bars and cafes along the prom. Walked down the steep hillside both to Zarautz and Orio. On one of the days we did 14 miles. Views from site and pitches stunning.
